“Music is about connection and self-expression. My wish is to help you find YOUR sound.”

Music is more than just notes

—it’s about expressing who you are.

Whether you’re a beginner, an experienced player, or just curious about sound, let’s explore together.

  • Traditional meets unconventional.

    • Learn to play the violin or viola at your own pace, whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced musician.

    • Explore different playing techniques, from classical bowing to extended modern techniques.

    • Work with any music that you love, adapted to your level.

    • Develop confidence in your playing and artistic expression.

  • Finding your unique sound isn’t just about the instrument—it’s also about your own voice.

    • Experiment with your natural voice, without pressure or judgment.

    • Learn to integrate singing, humming, or vocal textures into your music.

    • Discover the power of improvisation as a tool for self-expression.

    • Use voice exercises to develop musicality, phrasing, and confidence in sound exploration.

  • Music is more than just notes—it’s also textures, colours, and movement.

    • Play with objects and unconventional materials to create new sounds.

    • Explore how sound interacts with space, movement, and storytelling.

    • Incorporate body percussion, found sounds, and extended techniques into your playing.

    • Develop a creative, open-minded approach to music beyond traditional boundaries.

Meet María

🎻 Violinist, Sound Explorer & Musical Mischief-Maker

Hola! I’m María Muñoz López, and if you ask my violin, it will tell you we’ve been on a 26-year adventure together. We’ve traveled across Europe, played in orchestras, experimented with wild sounds, and even dabbled in a bit of musical mischief.

I believe music is more than just playing the right notes—it’s about curiosity, creativity, and connection. That’s why my lessons aren’t about following a strict method. Instead, we’ll explore music in a way that feels fun, freeing, and totally YOU.

🎶 Want to play your favorite song? Let’s do it.
🪄 Curious about making music with objects? Absolutely.
🎤 Feeling brave enough to improvise? I’ll guide you!

I studied at the Musik Akademie Basel, performed at festivals and venues across Europe, and spent years blending classical training with contemporary sounds, improvisation, and theatrical performance. But my favorite part? Helping people discover their own sound, their own rhythm, their own story.

If you’re ready to play, explore, and experiment—let’s make some noise together!

📍 Lessons available in-person (Basel, Switzerland) & online

    Dynamic Meth☉d

Your lessons are built around your interests, whether that’s classical pieces, improvisation, or making music with unexpected objects.

    Traditi☉n & Experiment

We honour the foundations of violin and viola playing but also dive into free improvisation, movement, and sound exploration.

No two students are the same, so why should their lessons be? I’ll tailor our sessions to your personal growth, artistic voice, and creative confidence.

    Bey☉nd The Instrument

Music isn’t just about technique. It’s about storytelling, listening, and playing with sound in new ways. Together, we’ll go beyond sheet music and explore sound in all its colours.

  • “I used to think I wasn’t ‘musical enough’ to play an instrument. But María’s approach made me realize that music isn’t about getting it ‘right’—it’s about expressing myself. Every lesson feels like an adventure, and I’ve discovered sounds I never knew I could create!”

  • “What I love about María’s lessons is that they’re never the same twice. She doesn’t just teach me to play the violin—she helps me explore music in a way that feels personal and exciting. I’m learning to trust my own sound, and that’s something truly special.”

  • “With María, there’s no pressure to fit into a rigid method. She listens, adapts, and encourages creativity in a way that makes learning feel freeing instead of stressful. I leave every lesson feeling inspired and eager to play more!”
